About Kirsty Wood

​

​

Kirsty is a clinical psychologist with over 18 years professional experience.

She commenced her training in 1998, graduating from Melbourne University with a Science degree, majoring in Psychology. Kirsty then completed a Graduate Diploma in Psychology at Deakin University and moved to live abroad.

She later went on to obtain a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology and a Post-Masters Diploma in Existential Counselling Psychology from Regent's College, London.

Throughout her career Kirsty has worked in a range of settings including crisis helplines, NHS hospital settings, not-for-profit organisations and as a Clinical Manager of a psychotherapy service. She has also worked in cancer support services offering psychological care to patients, carers and families. In addition to these roles, she has worked in private practice since 2008, offering individual counselling, couples counselling, psychotherapy and psychological coaching.

Kirsty is fully registered with AHPRA (the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) holding general registration with clinical psychology endorsement. She is also a member of AAPi.

Trained and experienced in a range of therapeutic approaches, Kirsty can tailor an individual approach to therapy for each client, choosing from the therapeutic modalities listed below:

Hours of Consultation

Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays 8am - 6pm. All consultations are currently telehealth online. Clients can choose to meet with Kirsty online via zoom or teams or by phone.

Fees and Rebates

The fee for a 50 minute session is $250.

You don't need a GP referral to see Kirsty, however if you wish to be eligible for a rebate, you will need a GP referral (Mental Health Care Plan). The current Medicare rebate amount for a 50 minute session with a clinical psychologist is $145.22.

​​

Alternatively, you may be eligible to claim a rebate directly with your private health insurer. Please be aware that you cannot claim both a Medicare rebate and a private health rebate for the same session.

Once you have booked an appointment, Kirsty will send you an appointment confirmation. She will also send a SMS reminder 48 hrs before your appointment. If you need to cancel your appointment, please let Kirsty know as soon as possible, as there is a cancellation fee of $100 for less than 24 hrs notice given.

Please note that as a sole trader in private practice, Kirsty doesn't have the resources to provide crisis care, medical or legal reports, or assessments or services via third parties. If you find yourself in crisis, please call Lifeline on 13 11 44, see your GP, or present to your local Emergency Dept.

​An experienced, approachable psychologist, Kirsty is warm, empathetic and supportive. She believes in building respectful collaborative therapeutic alliances with her clients. She offers a safe non-judgemental space for clients to gain greater self-awareness and understanding of the issues they are facing, whilst finding empowerment to make positive meaningful change.
